November Update - Limitations and a new game idea

Hey and Hallo!

Sunday is blog day! So, let's go. I thought I show my idea for the mini open world RPG that I'm currently working on. My idea is to limit myself as much as possible. That means, no unnecessary graphic escapades, no gameplay mechanics that I cannot implement and generally to crush the topic of OpenWorld so far that it still works for me.

For the graphics, I opted for the amazing 1-bit pack from the Kenney Game Assets 3 package. This tileset offers me more than enough possibilities to create the whole game graphics with it and I can therefore fully focus on the game mechanics. Thank you Kenney for your great work!

So back to the game. In order to limit the story as well as possible, I thought about going the classic "We need your help, bring us back X key items and save the world" route. Who doesn't know it? The players can then find these key items in four (previously planned) different dungeons . Currently I am working on a system that generates different dungeons over and over again in order to make every run a little more varied.

In addition to the system for the dungeons, there is also a prototype for the proposed combat system, and it is also possible to find items in the world and collect them in an inventory.

The combat system still gives me the most headache, as I still lack a good way to meaningfully integrate different hero classes or their equipment. In addition, I'm not so sure whether I want to go the way with different equipment or prefer to define heroes who can then be found in the course of the game. Let's see where the journey leads.

All in all, I am quite satisfied with the idea so far and I think that something good can come out of it. What I also want to try this time is to make the game available to the supporters of LotsOfStuff. Even if it's still very raw and at the beginning, I can imagine that the exchange with you can give the whole thing a completely new and exciting turn. I will provide a link to the supporter version during the day on the LotsOfStuff Ko-Fi page.

So much for the new game idea. I look forward to your comments and ideas. Let me know if you think it's a good idea to make the game available to a small group of people right from the start.

And so we have come to the end. I wish you a wonderful Sunday, have a good time and stay healthy.
